One of the questions the children asked about Harris’ runaway shoe was “Does it like snow?” As we didn’t have snow we had to use water instead for our experiment.
We worked in teams to take notes on our clipboards. First we tried a welly boot in the tub of water. It went into the water and it stayed dry inside, this meant it liked water. Next we tried a trainer, it went into the water and got soaked right through, it did not like the water!
Then we tried a cosy snow boot, it went into the water and made the water a bit muddy but it stayed really dry and cosy inside. It liked the water. It was time to try a shoe just like Harris’. We put it in the water and it definitely didn’t like it, it got wet right through and was very soggy.
So we looked at our finding and now know that The runaway shoe does not like water, so wherever it is disappearing to, it’s not somewhere wet!
