Primary 1 Learning Tasks 16th April

Good Morning boys and girls! I hope you all enjoyed a little bit of sunshine yesterday!

Literacy: Phonics	Log on to Education City (www.educationcity.com) and have a go at the city called ‘Phonics, Spelling & Reading’. Try to play for a minimum of 15 minutes. (Your Education City Login should either be stuck into the front of your homework diary or in a small brown envelope in your homework pack. If you cannot locate it, please let me know.) *Parents:* When we play this in class the children tend to try and rush through the game without listening to the instructions. Please encourage them to take their time and ensure that they know what they are being asked to do.
Literacy: Reading	In the book you have been reading Kipper has been keeping a diary of what he has been up to. Can you write a diary entry either for yesterday (Wednesday) or today (Thursday)? What did you get up to? What was the weather like?
Numeracy	In class we were practicing drawing pictures to help us solve problems. I have put an example to show you what I mean. (Below this table as I am not tech savvy enough to put it in the table!) E.g. I have three plates with 3 cookies on each plate. How many cookies do I have altogether? Can you try and complete 3 of your own? Parents: Feel free to make up your own however here are some examples to help. I know I get mind blanks when put on the spot. I have 4 plant pots and I put 2 flowers in each pot, how many flowers do I have altogether? There are three busses with 4 people on each bus. How many people are there altogether? I have 5 pairs of socks. How many individual socks do I have? I want to make my family some cupcakes. If I want to give mum 3 cupcakes, dad 2 cupcakes and my sister 2 cupcakes how many do I have to make?
Health & Wellbeing	Go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O1S8WzwLPlM and watch this video about the life cycle of a caterpillar. Can you tell your adult at home what the 4 stages are in the life cycle? CLUE: it starts with an egg!
