Happy Monday 4/05/20

Today Haggis and Topsy left Mrs Forth house and returned to Mrs June house Haggis warned Topsy about the very big tiger that lives in the house. Boys and girls it was a very exciting week last week going on your dinosaur footprint hunt in Milton woods, Haggis and Topsy had lots of fun bounding about the woods. We loved all the photos from Leo, Zachary, Amelia and Kayleigh and hope some more children managed to get out to find them over the weekend.

Looking at the mind maps you all did we are going to learn some more about dinosaurs and what you asked to learn.

How big was the biggest dinosaur?

Haggis and Topsy found out by looking on the internet that the biggest dinosaur that ever lived was a TITANOSARUS they used their huge long tail as a weapon. Thankfully they were herbivores so they would not have eaten us!!!

They were 45 foot tall and 120 meters long. To give you an idea of how big that was it was 3 London buses long and it was taller than a house!!! Very very big indeed so big in fact it is hard to imagine.

Can you think of how big his footprints would of been? To help you Haggis found some pictures of actual dinosaur footprints that were found here in Scotland on the Isle of Skye, Haggis is going to see these footprints in the summer.

Today we are going to learn about size and measurement, we use this to tell us how big or small something is it allows us to compare and sort things from big to small. Boys and girls we would like you to draw a big dinosaur footprint you can use pens, pencils,chalk or even paint you will need a big bit of paper. Then we would like you to draw around your foot beside the footprint. You will then be able to look at the picture to see which is bigger can you try and mark the biggest one for us.

If you have toy dinosaurs can you sort them from the biggest going down to the smallest if not you can use teddies to sort size.
