Good Morning Boys and Girls. I am looking forward to our Google Meets today!
| Literacy: Phonics | You have all been getting so good at spelling words in the last few weeks. Today we are going to practice counting sounds in words. For every sound that you need to clap. For example if the word was cup you would clap 3 times c-u-p and if the word was shop you would clap 3 times sh-o-p. Try these words: Dog Pop Chap Ship Long Thin Chip Sheep Boot When |
| Literacy: Reading | Parents: In the children’s homework folder you should find their word tin (small plastic box with red lid). There should be 15 words in each tub. These words will be the common words your child was still struggling to immediately recognise at the time of last assessment. I have attached a list of all the common words that your child should be able to recognise up until this point in Primary 1. Many of these words have not been introduced due to either the fact that they have not been in school or they have not been able to recognise the previous ones and I did not want to overwhelm them. The list should be read across the rows. Practice reading / recognising your common words with your adult at home. If you can confidently identify the words your adult can give you some new words to practice. You could make your own version of word cards for these new words. |
| Numeracy | Today we are going to think about following directions. Go to : https://www.mathplayground.com/follow_the_code.html. There will be a series of directions at the bottom of the screen. Follow the directions with your finger (you are the orange robot) and see what creature you find. Choose the matching creature at the right hand side of the screen to see if you are correct. |
| Health & Wellbeing | Get your self-portrait and around the outside I want you to write three facts about yourself. It might be your name, your age, your birthday, your favourite colour etc. |
