Good Morning Boys and Girls.
As I mentioned during last weeks Google Meet we will be mixing the groups up a little bit. Primary 1 will be joining with some boys and girls from primary 2/3 from this week. This means the adult in charge of your google meet will either be me, Ms O’Shea, Mrs Nimmons or Miss O’Brien. Please keep an eye and ear out for phone calls or emails today confirming your new Google Meet time. If you have any questions, please just send me an email!
| Literacy: Phonics | Go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDzpV3jFefs and watch the video to learn about your new sound. If you are able, make a new phonics card with your sound on it to go in your phonics pack. After you have watched the video try and come up with some words that have the ai sound in it. Can you solve my clues? 1. What does a train move along? 2. A really slow moving animal. 3. The postman brings thins. 4. The doggy in the window had a waggly _______ 5.An artist might use this. |
| Literacy: Reading | Parents: Please go to https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/user/sign_up.html and register for a free account. This will allow you and your child to access free reading books from home as obviously we are not able to issue new reading books at the minute. If you read Big Feet last week, please search for Cats If you read Dad can you do this? last week, please search for Digger. Like every other week have a go at reading the book. Before you start can you predict what you think the book is going to be about by looking at the front cover and the title. You can use the ‘read to me’ function if you want or simply read it to your adult. |
| Numeracy | Using your dominoes again we are going to play dominoes with a twist. I want you to take 6 dominoes each and leave the rest in a ‘pick-up’ space. The youngest player goes first and puts down a domino. The next player needs to play a domino so that the touching sides add up to 6. For example, if player one plays a 6-2 domino then player two needs to play a domino with a 4 or a blank side. If you cannot go you must pick up a domino. The winner is the first person to ‘get rid’ of all their dominoes (or if you cannot get rid of them all, the person with the least amount of dominoes at the end). |
| Science | Today is World Oceans Day. Watch https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFPoIU5iiYQ to see the problem we have in our oceans today. Have a chat with your adult at home and think about what sorts of things you, your family and your friends could do to help prevent this problem getting any worse. |
