Primary 1 Learning Tasks 4th May.

Good Morning boys and girls. I hope you all had a nice weekend (even if the sun did decide to hide on us a bit.)

Literacy: Phonics	Go to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zzq9wy6wXI and watch the video. This will show you your new sound. If you can try to make a sound card to go in your phonics folder (small envelope folder in homework folders). How many words can you come up with that have the ‘ph’ sound? Here are some clues: How do you talk to people who aren’t in your house? A large grey animal. What do you take with a camera? Use your phonics folder and show your adult at home how many of your sounds that you can remember.
Literacy: Reading	Parents: Please go to https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/user/sign_up.html and register for a free account. This will allow you and your child to access free reading books from home as obviously we are not able to issue new reading books at the minute. After your adult at home has created an account click on the E-Book section. In the search bar type in: The Dragon Balloon. If you click on the speaker button the computer will read the book to you. Can you read the book to your adult at home?
Numeracy	Log into your Sumdog account (www.sumdog.com) Click on Maths. You should find a task called Monday Number. Please try to complete this as independently as you can as it will allow me to see what areas might need some extra practice. I know that some children find the timer distracting. I have tried to allocate them as much time as possible for this challenge. However for this games on Sumdog it is more about playing to beat their own high score as there is not a ‘pass’ rate like there is on Education City.
Health & Wellbeing	The boys and girls in Primary 1 are REALLY good at remembering to brush their teeth. However, we are used to getting a little visitor in school to talk to us about how important it is to brush their teeth. Watch this video.
