Primary 1 Learning Tasks 6th May

Good Morning Boys and Girls. It was lovely to get to speak to (most) of you yesterday. We still appear to be having some teething issues, but hopefully I will get it sorted for next week and it will work properly. (Third time lucky!)

Literacy: PhonicsToday we are going to practice our rhyming words.

Here are a few games you could play: https://www.roomrecess.com/mobile/RhymeRoundUp/play.html http://www.literactive.com/Download/live.asp?swf=story_files/washing_line_rhyme_US.swf https://www.turtlediary.com/game/words-that-rhyme.html

Can you come up with two words that rhyme with:
Dog
Cat
Bed
Literacy: Reading Go to https://www.onceuponapicture.co.uk/portfolio_page/girl-and-dragon/ and have a look at the picture. There is a series of questions below the picture. Can you discuss the questions with an adult at home.   If you’re up to the challenge, try and write one of your answers down.
Numeracy Miss Robinson has seen on your online games and heard from some parents that counting backwards is something that lots of us are finding tricky. It is a tricky thing to do, but practice makes perfect!

With your adults at home practice counting back from 10 first. Can you say all the numbers?
Can you take it in turns to say a number with your adult?
Can you start at 20 and go backwards?
What about 30?
Here are some games to help you practice: https://www.ictgames.com/mobilePage/whackAMole/index.html (When you first open this game it will automatically start at 0 and ask you to go up. In the left hand corner change the starting number to 10, 20 or 30, whatever your child needs to practice and then in the right hand corner change the direction to backwards)

Health & WellbeingIn school we have been practicing our throwing and catching skills. If you have got one can you get a ball and go into the garden.

Practice throwing the ball up in the air and catching it. Can you throw it back and forth with someone else at home? Can you make up a game that allows you to practice your throwing and catching skills?   If you don’t have a ball you could use a small toy.
