Primary 1 Learning Tasks 3rd June

Good Morning Boys and Girls.

Literacy: PhonicsGo to https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/2/buried-treasure and log in using:
Username: march20
Password: home

In the Buried Treasure game, you should be able to play the ‘Phase 3’ Option and click on ‘+ng’. If you find it difficult choose the ‘Phase 2’ Option and ‘Revise all Phase 2’.

In the game you have to sound out the words and decide if they are real or fake.
Literacy: ReadingParents: In the children’s homework folder you should find their word tin (small plastic box with red lid). There should be 15 words in each tub. These words will be the common words your child was still struggling to immediately recognise at the time of last assessment. I have attached a list of all the common words that your child should be able to recognise up until this point in Primary 1. Many of these words have not been introduced due to either the fact that they have not been in school or they have not been able to recognise the previous ones and I did not want to overwhelm them. The list should be read across the rows.

Practice reading / recognising your common words with your adult at home. If you can confidently identify the words your adult can give you some new words to practice. You could make your own version of word cards for these new words.
Numeracy In your lockdown pack that is available at the Mercat Centre there are some dominos.

Can you sort them according to how many dots they have ALTOGETHER?

Put all the dominoes with 1 dot together, all the dominoes with 2 dots together etc all the way up to 12 (I think this will be the highest number)
ScienceLois very kindly shared a video of her caterpillars with us. During our google meet she shared that they are getting bigger and hopefully will be starting to change into butterflies soon.

Go to education city and search for the game Flutter and Fly. You should be able to answer the questions as we watched a video on the lifecycle of a butterfly a few weeks ago.

When you’re finished can you design your own beautifully coloured butterfly. You could use coloured pens, pencils, paint, glitter, whatever you want. I would love to see what you come up with.

CHALLENGE: Can you make the wings on your butterfly symmetrical? (The same pattern on both wings)

Remember to check out the main school blog for this weeks Health and Wellbeing Challenges. Have you started your 5K yet. I know we have lots of keen cyclers and runners in Primary 1 so this should be a breeze for you!
