‼️Nursery Google Meet‼️

Good Morning

We are trying to set up our Google meet appointments so we can have a quick video call get together in our key groups. In order to this we are asking parents (who do not have other children in the school) to set up a gmail account. This will allow us to add you to the call. There are instructions on how to get Google meet on the main blog.

We need you to make your Gmail account, if you don’t already have one then comment below with your Gmail address. If you have another child in the school with an @invergordonacademy account we will invite you to the call using that.

We appreciate this is all new and we are also finding our feet with it so if you have any problems do not hesitate to ask and we will try to help best we can.

The Tiger who came to Tea

Today we are going to be baking some cakes and having a picnic with the other teddies including the Tiger just like in the book The Tiger who came to Tea. We are going be doing lots of counting using our number skills.

Firstly we will need to carefully weigh out all of our ingredients we will need 6oz margarine, 6oz caster sugar, 6oz self-raising flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 3 eggs, and a splash of milk. Lots of counting here.

The number on the scales needs to be 6

After we had counted out the flour and 3 eggs we used the electric whisk to make it all light and fluffy. Remember boys and girls the whisks need electricity to work and we do not go near this only parents electricity can be Dangerous.

Whisking and creaming

Then we had to count out our cake cases we counted 12, we used a spoon to put the mixture in.

Using our counting skills

Then we used some science when the mixture is put in to a hot oven the heat makes the ingredients rise up and up like magic! We must not touch the cooker as it will be very hot and we could burn ourselves, this would hurt a lot. Only an adult can touch the cooker always stay safe.

Watching the cakes rise

Now we are ready to have our very special picnic I hope the Tiger Does not eat me!! I counted out 4 blueberries, 2 strawberries, 1 sandwich and 1 yummy cake 🍰.

Can you set up a picnic with some of your toys.? Could you count out lots of bits of food for the toys just like we did.

The Tiger took lots of food he did not do good sharing boys and girls.

Can you tell me the names of all the animals who came for Tea?

We read the story of the tiger who came to tea, it was a funny story the Tiger ate all the food. Can you get your favourite book and look at the pictures to help you re-tell the story to your toys.

Next week I will be back with Mrs Forth for more adventures I won’t miss the big Tiger he scares me 😳 .

Have lots of fun

Primary 1 Learning Tasks 23rd April.

Good Morning Boys and Girls. It was lovely to speak to your mums and dads (and some of you) on the phone yesterday. If I wasn’t speaking to your family please look out for a phone call today. It will be from a private number. I am looking forward to hopefully seeing all your little faces next week.

In addition to todays tasks can I please draw your attention to the topic grid Mrs Christie very kindly put up on the main school blog last night. The activities in it are Completely Optional, however if you do have a go at any please feel free to send us any pictures.

Literacy: PhonicsHave a go at http://www.scootle.edu.au/ec/viewing/L7860/index.html.   The game focuses on identifying two words with the same 2 initial letters.

Children may need some support to begin with as this is not a game, they are familiar with.
Literacy: Reading Have a go at re-reading A Home for Ted. Is it getting any easier?
NumeracyLast week you showed your adults at home how to use pictures to help solve problems. Can you do this again but using subtraction problems?

Parents: Feel free to make up your own however here are some examples to help. I know I get mind blanks when put on the spot.
I have 10 cookies and I eat 3. How many cookies do I have left?
There are 7 people on a bus. At the next stop 2 people get off. How many people are left on the bus?
I have 9 sweeties. My brother takes 2 and my sister takes 1. How many do I have left?
Health & WellbeingWhen you were at school you were taking about where foods come from. You learned that some foods come from plants and some come from animals.

Can you have a look in your kitchen and find 3 foods that come from plants and 3 foods that come from animals.

Do you know what animals the items come from?   If you do not have many animal products in your house, can you name any?

Happy Wednesday Everyone 22.04.20

I hope you are all managing to spend lots of time outdoors in this glorious weather. With lots of sunscreen the Sun is very strong and can burn us. Neve and haggis have been busy constructing an outside den using lots of props blankets, hoovers almost anything they can find!!!

Best Friends

Afterwards Neve and Haggis decided that they would make a picture out of shapes they spent some time cutting out their shapes before making their picture Wolfe watched on and Tiger was not far away with Haggis keeping a very careful eye on him!!! haggis is very nervous around tiger🐅

Drawing and cutting shapes.

Haggis Made a tiger
Haggis used triangles for ears, rectangles for body and paws, circles for face and feet, squares for a tail.

We would like you to make a picture using shapes it can be anything you like it has to be made from different shapes.

Can you help haggis to find out some facts about Tiger’s girls and boys?

What does a Tiger like to eat?

What is a baby Tiger called?

Where do Tiger’s live?

We would also like you to find out one fact about Tiger’s of your own for us, you can use the internet, or a fact book. You could draw a Tiger of your own.

With some help could you write a T for Tiger.

We look forward to hearing from you all and seeing all your work.

Primary 1 Learning Tasks 22nd April

Good Morning boys and girls! It has been lovely seeing all of your pictures of you enjoying the sunshine and taking your learning outside. You all look like you’re having fun with your families.

Literacy: PhonicsGo to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nrjb0rIer5M and watch the video.

This will show you your new sound. If you can try to make a sound card to go in your phonics folder (small envelope folder in homework folders).

How many words can you come up with that have the ‘ng’ sound? Here are some clues:
The opposite of short.
What a bird uses to fly.
Something that you sing.

Use your phonics folder and show your adult at home how many of your sounds that you can remember.
Literacy: WritingOn Monday you went on a bear hunt whilst doing some yoga and your reading book is about Finding a Home for Ted.

Can you write about your favourite Teddy Bear?   What are they called? Where did you get them? Any other interesting information?

It does not have to be long. Just a sentence or two. If you can, remember capital letters at the start and full stops at the end.

Try to sound out the words by yourself rather than asking an adult to tell you how to spell them. I know it is tricky, but practice makes perfect!
NumeracyHave a go at https://www.splashlearn.com/math-skills/kindergarten-grade/numbers-up-to-5-gk/represent-numbers

If you have time also try https://www.splashlearn.com/math-games-for-kindergarteners

Parents: I think you may need to create a free account.
Health & WellbeingTime to do some exercise. Have a go at this workout!   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oc4QS2USKmk

Tristian has been busy!

Today Mrs Forth spoke with Tristians Mum and heard how Tristian has been busy at home with his family. Like most of us he is enjoying this lovely weather in his garden and having daily walks in the woods.

Tristian enjoyed the egg task and his Mum sent us some lovely photos, its great to see your face Tristian, I’m sure your friends will be pleased to see you.

Tristian made cookies at the end with his egg but sadly the photo won’t download but they looked delicious Tristian.

Exploring the inside of an egg, painting eggs and baking with an egg! Super work Tristian.
