Help with Phonics and Reading.

In Primary 1 we have been playing a game called Teach Your Monster to Read on the tablets.

The game takes the children through each of the initial sounds in a fun and interactive way and helps them practice their common words and spelling skills.

I have put the login details for this game in your child’s diary so, if you want they can play it at home.

Simply log in via http://www.teachyourmonstertoread.com/u/1224904 so that they can save their progress.

Afternoon Walks

Today we decided to go on a walk around the village as it was such a lovely afternoon. We talked about how to stay safe whilst out and about. We focused on staying together and making sure we stopped, looked and listened at every road we came to. We were lucky and didn’t meet many cars but we did hear lots of happy birds!

Potions Lessons

This afternoon some of the children turned into scientists and made potions using water droppers.

This was an exciting way to explore water flow and observe the properties of liquids. It encouraged hand and eye coordination as well as challenging fine motor skills.

Don’t worry if your child wasn’t here this afternoon as we will be providing this again in a morning session.

Primary 1 update

We have been working very hard in Primary 1 since coming back to school.

We have been working on identifying our numbers, adding groups of items together and recognising number patterns such as finger patterns and tens frames patterns.

The boys and girls have really surprised me with how well they know their sounds and have been having a go at spelling, reading and writing 3 letter words.

And finally of course, we have been enjoying getting outside and exploring and problem solving in the woods.
