Well done to Harris and Zacahry who really enjoyed their jumping challenge today.
Zachary used hoops as targets to jump between. His mum said he like to have a run up to his jumps and had his cuddly bat to help him!
Harris throughly enjoyed his jumping so much he spent most of the day jumping and especially enjoyed jumping in a newly cut hay field. He also shared a picture of his toy Maui as he also really likes him!
Sami was busy practicing her letters with her dinner! Great work Sami.
I hope you are all keeping well and enjoying getting to see more people in their gardens. It is really nice to start seeing out families and friends again.
I am back at Mrs Forth for this week and we had a lovely cosy movie night last night. We watched Moana, its the first time Mrs Forth has seen it and she loved it. She liked all the singing and can see why Leo likes Maui, we thought he was funny. I know Amy likes Moana too, I bet she loves singing along to the songs. I wondered what is your favorite film character and why? Mrs Forth loves The Lorax because he cares so much for our trees.
Movie and a treat
For todays health and wellbeing challenge you have to lay out your skipping rope in a long line and just over it side to side for a whole minute and count home many jumps you do! Mrs Forth took me to her friends garden for a workout yesterday. Me and her friend Nikki did the challenge, a minute felt long!
Jumping challenge
Let me know how you all get on with the challenge and send in your photos.
Don’t forget to check in and tell me your favourite film character and why you like them.
Good Morning Boys and Girls. I hope you all enjoyed your virtual trip last week, I know I did.
Thank you to the people who sent in ‘topic’ suggestions- if you think of anything you’d like to learn more about and have a focus on please let me know and I will see what I can do! 🙂
Reading
Today our focus is going to be on Jungle Animals as this was a topic Ava suggested we learn some more about.
I would like you to listen to the story Rumble in the Jungle at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2-O1LkCzpM, or if you have the book at home you could read it with your adult.
When you’re finished can you remember all of the animals that you heard about.
Phonics
You will notice that throughout the story the lines in each description rhyme. We have been looking at rhyme quite a lot over the past few weeks.
Do you think you would work out what words need to go in the spaces so that the 1st and 2nd lines of the poem rhyme and the 3rd and 4th lines rhyme. You can choose which poem you want to do. If you are feeling particularly motivated you could write the poem out and draw a picture (See Below)
Numeracy
Can you solve these problems?
1.The Monkeys in the jungle are having a hard time sharing their bananas. They need your help. In the tree there are 15 bananas and 3 hungry monkeys. If they share them fairly how many will each monkey get? 2. Up in the trees a family of 7 parrots are sleeping. In a nest there are 4 eggs. When they hatch how many parrots will there be? 3. The Tigers will only go hunting in pairs. If there are 17 lions will everyone be able to go hunting?
Technology
I would like you to choose one animal that lives in the jungle and find out 3 facts about it. You can use the internet or you could use fact books if you have any. I would also love it if you could share your facts with me as I like learning new things too!

Zachary has been very busy today getting his bug house all ready for its new inhabitants. First of all Zachary cleaned and painted his bottle cut in half, he thought the mini beasts would like the colour blue. Then he collected twigs, leaves and bits and pieces to make it cosy inside then he set them up. He will watch them to see who moves in, when they were collected the twigs Zachary saw ladybugs and spiders. I cannot wait to see who moves in Zachary well done amazing work ⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Either using a ruler and a pencil, or a ruler, a pair pf scissors and some string / ribbon can you try to measure a length of string or draw a line that is: 10 cm long 15cm long 20cm long 17 cm long.
As we are now in summer with all the flowers and plants growing everywhere we thought it might be nice to go on a bug hunt they should all be busy at the moment moving around and filling their tummies. Then we thought we could all make a bug house that we could check on over the summer to see what kind of different bugs come and visit our house at different times. We could draw a picture and put a tick underneath the picture each time that bug visits the bug house.
Haggis and Neve looked hard for bugs maybe they were all having a nap because they could not see any!!
They did pick up lots of twigs, pine cones, leaves different types and some grass. All from Milton woods not very far from all of you. Mrs June cut an old clean milk carton in half, just to be safe, as it was tough to cut and we did not want any cut fingers.
Then Neve and haggis put a stone in the bottom so it would not blow away, they then filled it with all the bits they collected and put it out in the garden. I am excited to see if any bugs are there in the morning.
Girls and boys as part of our health challenge month Mrs Forth has been doing a Friday morning cross fit challenge, you can find this on the school blog, why don’t you join her she would love to see our little stars keeping fit.
Zachary enjoyed his star jumps he looked like he as having lots and fun well done Zachary 🌟🌟then he made some ice and had a lovely cold drink after all his hard work.
Amy and her sister Zoe had fun outside doing their star jumps 🌟🌟 well done girls super work.
I hope you’re still enjoying our trip. I’m kind of sad that tomorrow is our last day. Does anyone have any topics that they’d like to suggest we learn about for the last couple of weeks of term? If you have an idea ask your mums or dads to send me an email with your suggestion.
IDL
Mickey has asked for your help to design a new ride for Disney Land! You could draw your ride, video yourself describing it, or build it out of blocks, recycling etc. I cannot wait to see what you all come up with!
Reading
Look at the pictures below. Can you read each character’s name and match them to the correct pictures?
Challenge: Can you read the phrases and match them to the correct picture.
Can you make a list of the different things that you know of that can fly?
Challenge: Write a sentence to tell me where you would fly to if you had a magic carpet.
Numeracy
Time is something that we haven’t looked at in a very long time.
Remember that the little hand always points to the hour and the big hand controls the minutes. When it is an o’clock time the big hand will be at 12 and when it is a half past time the bog hand will be at the 6.
Look below to find your itinerary for the day. Can you make the correct time? You can print off the clocks, draw your own, or make them on a clock you have at home (if you have one!)
Well Primary 1 we have had a busy few days on our virtual Disney World Trip. The first thing we needed to do was get our passports ready and you all did a fantastic job making them!
We also had to pack our suitcases.
We then had to make sure we were tall enough for the rides using every day objects!
Inspired by a tour of the Monsters Inc ride we made our own monsters.
And finally, after having to work out correct change for a Mickey snack these two were inspired to make Mickey shaped treats of their own. I know where I’m going for lunch when lockdown ends!
It’s Day 3 of our virtual trip! I am really enjoying seeing photos of you taking part in all the tasks and I LOVE the fact that many of you are wearing Disney clothes (is this intentional or a coincidence!?)
Art
Watch the Monsters Inc ride clip, it is a 360-degree experience so you can drag the screen to see all around you.
Design your own monster and record yourself describing them. Are they kind, scary, fluffy, angry? Can you think of any other ways to describe them?
Look closely at the pictures and see if you can spot any sounds/CVC words/common words.
Can you read them aloud to your adult at home? You could create your own picture and hide words for somebody else to find. There are 3 pictures attached below to complete this challenge
(You do not need to do all three- but the more you do the more characters you will see!)
Numeracy
Here is a snack menu from Disney World. Decide what snack that you would like and choose the correct coins to pay for it. Can you do this for 3 different items.
Challenge: How much change would you get if you paid with a 10p coin?
Health & Wellbeing
Watch the clip of Ratatouille.
Can you help to prepare a meal or snack today? You could look at a recipe with an adult if they are using one.
